Rolex

Rolex, founded in 1905 in London, England by Wilsdorf and Davis has produced finest and exquisite watches in the world. Rolex moved its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland in 1919. There is no precise meaning to the name Rolex, the reason Wilsdorf chose this name was because he wanted a name that was short, yet significant and not cumbersome when put on a dial of a watch.
Rolex has been the official time keeper for many sporting events like the Wimbledon and Australian tennis grand slams, major golf championship and many more. Rolex is notably known for its creation of the world’s first waterproof, airtight and dustproof watch which was patented as the “Oyster” case, also known as it was as impenetrable as an oyster. Initially this idea was thought of as a marketing gimmick and with skepticism; it is now a standard to which almost all sports watches are measured. In addition, Rolex also produced the world’s first automatic winding watch in 1931 and the first watch company to receive the Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision. Now Rolex is the largest luxury watch company which made it to the Forbes World’s Most Valuable Brands List with retails in over a hundred countries and producing 2000 watches on average per day.
Some of the celebrities that endorse or seen wearing Rolex watches are Tiger Woods, Brad Pitt, Roger Federer, Ana Ivanovic and Lindsey Vonn
